It is hard to believe that 2025 has already passed, but here we are. Was it a good year? Yes, and no. I managed to do some things, but failed with others. Surprisingly I visited fewer conventions than usually but some were pretty important ones.
I wanted to visit Opolcon for years. Yet every time something was standing in my way. More than once it was a concurrent convention in another place. This year the situation was similar but I decided that I need to finally attend Opolcon.

There is one good thing about forgetfulness – one can get excited by something more than once. Last year I did a hike from Ustroń to Wisła. Once I reached my destination, I saw an information about a historic villa called Ochorowiczówka. It was a home for a Museum of Magical Realism. Yet it was too late (and I was too tired) to see it. Then I forgot about the museum – I just recalled the villa being there.
I love conventions. This should be pretty obvious to anyone who follows this blog. Yet there are some limits. I realized a few years ago that doing more than two in a row is hard and I try to avoid it… Yet I ended up doing it again. I started with Seminarium Literackie, followed by Archipelacon 2, and then by Bazyliszek x Polcon. The good thing is that I don’t regret it at all!

That last weekend I attended the Seminarium Literackie 2025 ran by Silesian SFF Club (ŚKF). I must say that it was exactly the con I needed now. The mix of programme and socializing was perfect and I came back home filled with positive thoughts. (I won’tsay that I came back relaxed as I was quite tired).

So we made it! We finally travelled in time. Well it was only a move forward but one must start with something ok? So we had Lajconik 2025 planned for April 26th and 27th and just a few days before the con the National Mourning was announced and we had travel through time (and space!). We ended up having the same convention in a different venue 1.5 month later. As usually when I am the member of the concom I won’t try to rate the event, but I will share some thoughts about it.
Recently I managed to fulfil one of my dreams – I attended a convention in Japan. I cannot say it was my lifelong dream – my young self would not even dare to dream of something like that. Yet, since I learned about HAL-CON I knew I wanted to attend it. And at last I managed to do so this year. It was fun but also challenging. HAL-CON was so similar to other cons I visited and also so different from them.
My second con this year was KON_gres 2025. It is a conrunning convention that I attend every year. This time it came back to it’s cradle – Wrocław. Yet instead of being held in the library on the Main Square, it took place in the conference centre at the city stadium.

I opened my 2025 convention season with Zjava 14 in Warszawa. As usually, it was a nice con with friendly atmosphere. Similarly to last year I didn’t play any games despite the con being a gaming event. Yet can I still call it that way?
