Filking Rover

The post below is a very special one. I decided to publish the lyrics to the first filk song I wrote. I am fully aware it is not perfect. Possibly I will change some words in the future but here it is – The Fandom Rover.

The Fandom Rover

Tune to be used: The Wild Rover.

I’ve been fandom rover for many’s a year,
And I’ve spent all my money on conventions and zines
And now I’m returning with gold in great store,
And I never will play the wild rover no more

And it’s no, nay, never!
No nay never no more
This was the last convention
For me in this world

I went to Eurocon I used to frequent,
As I wanted my money to quite well spent
They shown me the badges embroidered with gold
And I told them this decision was rather too bold

And it’s no, nay, never!
No nay never no more
This was the last convention
For me in this world

They told me the sponsor gave them money they need
So they used memberships to pay for the blitz
It is kinda outrageous I shouted to them
And they told me decisions was not mine to made

And it’s no, nay, never!
No nay never no more
This was the last convention
For me in this world

So I joined the Worldcon that was held in Bielefeld
To enjoy the programme they promised to held
The wurst was quite good, this I must say
But there were no GOHs to my deepest dismay

And it’s no, nay, never!
No nay never no more
This was the last convention
For me in this world

Here I must tell you I spi-inned the line
Conventions are better then I described
And I know that the next one I will attend
Will still be exciting as all I have manned

And it’s yes, yea, always!
Always wanting for more
Attending conventions
Is the best in the world
