Śląskie Dni Fantastyki 2024 (ŚDF) lasted for two days. Yet for me they were even shorter. Because of some private matters I didn’t manage to travel to the con in the morning. I reached the convention venue around 3:30 PM on Saturday – very late for me. I was a bit concerned I would not have enough time to enjoy the ŚDF 2024 but my concerns were not valid.

KON_gres 2024 was held in Gniezno. On one hand I was unhappy as it was quite far from Krakow. On the other hand it meant I was finally able to attend a convention by Fantasmagoria society. I wanted to attend their flagship con – Fantasmagoria for years. Yet it was always held in the dates when I couldn’t attend.
My convention season opening for 2024 was Zjava 13 – a winter con run by the Avangarda society in Warsaw. It was a gaming con but somehow I didn’t play any game. Instead I had a great time – mainly through meeting people.

Some days are bad and some are good. The weekend of Imladris XXI was definitely in the latter category. The convention felt exactly as it should. It was a good mixture of programme and socializing. I didn’t know what I needed before the con but during it I understood that I am in a right place.
I was in a bad mood. Or at least not in the best mood. I was exhausted and there were moments when I felt like “why am I even going?” And Kapitularz Polconem changed my approach. It was a convention I needed!

Last year I didn’t go to Nordcon. I had to resign because of the pandemic. Yet this year I decided to go. I was afraid – it is a long convention and it is a relaxacon. This means there is plenty of socializing which I love. Still the pandemic is not yet over (despite what the government states) and I was a bit concerned.

That was a weekend! I hope people had good time. As for me I was too busy to properly enjoy the con. I liked it! Yet as I spent most of it doing things it is hard for me to say how it looked for members.

So there is an SFF club in Poland that reached 40 years. A good age and they are still pretty active. Their flagship convention is called Bachanalia Fantastyczne and I decided to join their anniversary celebration! It was a bit tough week for me as on Wednesday night I cam back from a business trip just to travel to the con the next day after work.

It is a bit surreal to me that yet again I am writing a report from in person convention! Over the pandemic times I got so used to attending everything from home that writing a third con report from in-person event sounds strange. Not bad though! Just strange. I was supposed to visit Pyrkon in 2020 – and as it was the case with most cons that year I didn’t get the chance. The team decided not to go into online form (although they made some other online events, as well as in person fairs during the pandemic). All in all the Pyrkon 2022 was the first that took place after three years that passed since 2019.
