Last year I haven’t been to whole Lemcon as I had another convention the same weekend. This year I promised myself I would be at the con organized by my club. And I kept my word. Yet, when I had been preparing it, I did not expect what would happen.
Arkhamer, where I was asked a silly question
There are conventions which somehow appear as a “must visit” for me. This was the case for Arkhamer. It is a young event – the first one took place in 2015. It is not a very big con either, around 500 people visited it this year. Yet somehow, for a couple of years, I had this feeling that I needed to visit it. And this year, I finally did.

Polcon – all the rainy days
The time flies by so fast. It feels like only a few weeks have passed since I went to Polcon in Lublin and the next one has just taken place in Toruń. This year, the con was held in July and not in August, which is usually the case. Normally, there are some storms in July in Poland, but this year’s Polcon was quite unique in that it was raining almost all the time…
Magnificon Expo 2018 – Manga fandoms strikes back
I usually don’t write about manga & anime conventions. This is related to the fact that I haven’t been to any such con for the last three years. But it was the M&A fandom that I started with and although I am not active in this part of fandom any more, I still like watching anime and reading manga. This year, Magnificon had a programme item I wanted to see so strongly, that I decided to visit the convention.

Śląskie Dni Fantastyki – ŚKF strikes back
Over the last few years Śląski Klub Fantastyki (Silesian SFF club) haven’t organized a typical SF con. There was Asucon – a M&A convention. There was also Seminarium Literackie (Literary Seminar), which is a small, almost purely literary convention. Still, no typical con was held until this March.

KONgres 2018 – learning how to run a con
Last year the first KONgres took place. It was the first Polish convention for conrunners. This year it was held again in Wrocław and was both similar to and different than the previous year. It was much smaller than in 2017 when it was a new idea. Now it didn’t have the freshness but still there were over 80 members what, I believe, is a decent number for this kind of event.
ZjAva – gaming convention in the middle of winter
I started my convention year 2018 with ZjAva – a relatively big gaming convention in Warsaw. It is completely different than Lajconik I was describing last year, but at the same time both events have things in common. And those are games, of course.

Nordcon – good relax at the end of the year
Since several years Nordcon is my last convention of a year. It allows me to relax and spend time socializing instead of taking part in programme items or running a con. This year the situation was the same as usual and I travelled to Nordcon to get some rest after a very intensive year.

Falkon – Join the Federation
The 18th Falkon took place this year. It belongs to the biggest conventions in Poland and although it cannot be compared with Pyrkon, it is still huge. Unfortunately, almost every year I am at Falkon, there are some issues. Still, I really like this convention and I am always eager to visit Lublin in November.

Imladris XVI – a reminder of good old times
Imladris has a special place in my heart. It was not the first convention I was a member of (this title belongs to DOJIcon 2), but it was the first SF convention I had the pleasure to attend. A few years ago I was very disappointed to learn that the con would be discontinued. To my delight, the convention was revived in 2013 after several years on hiatus. I suppose it is not a big surprise that I’ve been doing my best to visit Imladris every year since then. This year was no exception.
