When the previous Demicon ended we expected that this year the convention will take place in person. Yet the world did not allow for that. Demicon 32 had to be held virtually and the team did. Because of that I got the chance to come back to Des Moines and enjoy the con. This year the theme was Super Manga Graphic Novels Comics Animation and it was visible in many of the programme items.
KONgres 2021 – Conrunning in the Global Pandemic
I wrote quite a few posts about the conventions during pandemic. I visited 25 such events before KONgres and I posted about almost every single one of them. Yet KONgres is a bit special. It is a convention for conrunners. I attended it in 2017, 2018, and 2019 but I missed it in 2020. This year it was obviously held online.

Lajconik Goes Online for the Second Time
Last year we did not get a lot of time to move Lajconik online. This year the situation was different. We had a few months to plan how to run it. As I was deeply involved in the con it is hard for me to say whether it went good or bad. Instead I will concentrate on how the things were going.
ConFusion – A Bit Confusing Convention
This Easter, I participated in ConFusion – 2021 Eastercon. My overall experience was positive but certain aspects of the con were a bit confusing (pun intended). There were also some issues spotted by me and others. Yet despite them, I had a good time.
Konline 2021 – Almost an Anniversary
Almost exactly one year ago I attended Konline. It was my first virtual convention. Now, after twelve months, I had the chance to attend second Konline. It changed in many ways but at the same time it kept its strong points.
Fandom Helps – Contribution
You may remember that there was an earthquake in Croatia in December 2020. If haven’t heard of it, the Croatians fans do. And they wanted to help the victims of this natural disaster. They decided to raise some money using their fannish ways – by organizing a convention. It was called Contribution.
Boskone 58 – a trip I wanted to make
I don’t remember when I heard about Boskone for the first time but since then I wanted to visit it. It was not an easy thing because of the distance between Krakow and Boston. This year’s situation was different as the convention had to move online. I am happy that it allowed me to participate. At the same time, I regret that it was impossible to hold it in its original format, as an in-person convention.
Capricon 41 and Long Distance Play – transatlantic cooperation
A few months ago, I was sure that Boskone will be my first convention in 2021. Yet I had already visited Arisia and Capricon 41. The latter cooperated with the British Filk Convention – Long Distance Play – and I would like to write a few words about them.

Arisia – my first convention of 2021
Usually I don’t start conventioning in January but this year I visited Arisia, a New England convention. It was held online (for the reasons we all know too well). Because of my involvement in the Glasgow in 2024 Worldcon bid, my experience was a bit different than what I have been used to.
Smoffing at SMOFCon 37 ¼
SMOFCon 38 was supposed to take place this year in Montreal but it was rescheduled because of the pandemic. Yet it was decided to hold a smaller online event on the first Saturday of December. It was named SMOFCon 37 ¼. I managed to not only attend it but also help a little bit.
