The best thing about Eurocon happening after Worldcon is the fact that you can have a convention marathon, but at the same time this is the worst thing as marathons in general are exhausting. This years’ Eurocon took place one week after and around 170 km north from Dublin 2019 Worldcon and it had both the advantages and disadvantages of happening just after Worldcon.

Ytterbium was my second Eastercon and this time the convention was completely different experience to me. Last year, when I attended Follycon, I had had the feeling that I knew almost no one. I had been a candidate in the GUFF race and I was trying to find my place at the con. This year I knew more people and I was crazy busy with doing a lot of things.

Lajconik is one of my favourite conventions and I always do everything I can to attend it. When I became the chair of the SFF club organizing it, I decided to appear there as an attendee ant not as one of the staff members (I am always available for any help if needed, of course). This year, my time at Lajconik was limited, but it was still a lot of fun.
Last year, Śląski Klub Fantastyki (Silesian SFF club) launched a new convention – Śląskie Dni Fantastyki (The Silesian SFF days, ŚDF). This year ŚDF took place for the second time. I had the pleasure to visit the convention and see all the dragons that were there.

I am writing this in 2018, but when these words will appear online, we will all be in 2019. I should summarize my year here, but it is not an easy task. So many things have happened, so many of them were totally surprising – it is still difficult for me to grasp all these events. Nordcon is a relaxacon that takes place near the year’s end. I like it, and ever since my first one, a few years back, I try to visit it every year. The good thing about this con is that I have a lot of time to talk and I do not feel like missing some important programme items.

I really love Imladris. It is a convention that is very dear to me (my first SFF convention was Imladris, back in 2003). It is also a convention that has a really cool atmosphere. So how did it go this year at Imladris XVII?
I really hate when I need to complain about a convention. Well, maybe not when I need to complain, but when I have more complaints than good things to say. Unfortunately, this is the case with Falkon this year and I am really sad as I really like this convention.
Sometimes, I do make mistakes when judging conventions. I have not attended first two editions of Plansówki. It was not because I had thought it was not a good convention. It was just not appealing to me enough somehow. Now I can only regret it took me so long before visiting this con in my hometown.
