The time flies by so fast. It feels like only a few weeks have passed since I went to Polcon in Lublin and the next one has just taken place in Toruń. This year, the con was held in July and not in August, which is usually the case. Normally, there are some storms in July in Poland, but this year’s Polcon was quite unique in that it was raining almost all the time…
Magnificon Expo 2018 – Manga fandoms strikes back
I usually don’t write about manga & anime conventions. This is related to the fact that I haven’t been to any such con for the last three years. But it was the M&A fandom that I started with and although I am not active in this part of fandom any more, I still like watching anime and reading manga. This year, Magnificon had a programme item I wanted to see so strongly, that I decided to visit the convention.

Continuum 14: Conjugation – my first convention on the southern hemisphere
As some of you know I was a GUFF delegate this year and I got the opportunity to visit a convention in Australia. The convention was Continuum 14: Conjugation that was held in Melbourne between 8th and 11th June. It was my first convention on the southern hemisphere and I was really interested in how similar/different it will be compared to all other cons I have visited.

Pyrkon – huge as always
It has been a while since Pyrkon but I have started my GUFF trip just after the convention and therefore I didn’t have time to write about the con before. Now I am trying to recollect my memories and this is not so easy after three weeks I have spent in Australia doing fannish things. There is however one thing that stick to my memory apart from the size of this convention – guests.
Lituanicon – a surprising convention
One of the reasons why I am travelling to different conventions across the Europe is to understand the fannish ways in all the countries. Yet almost every time when I encounter something really different I am surprised. Lituanicon was not an exception. It took me by surprise and I had to understand and accept its ways.
Is it a folly? No, it’s Follycon!
I wanted to visit Eastercon since several years but as it is held during Easter (which I am spending with my family) such trip wasn’t possible for me. Yet this year I decided to run for GUFF and thus I excused my family and headed for Eastercon to participate in Fan Fund related items.
Śląskie Dni Fantastyki – ŚKF strikes back
Over the last few years Śląski Klub Fantastyki (Silesian SFF club) haven’t organized a typical SF con. There was Asucon – a M&A convention. There was also Seminarium Literackie (Literary Seminar), which is a small, almost purely literary convention. Still, no typical con was held until this March.

KONgres 2018 – learning how to run a con
Last year the first KONgres took place. It was the first Polish convention for conrunners. This year it was held again in Wrocław and was both similar to and different than the previous year. It was much smaller than in 2017 when it was a new idea. Now it didn’t have the freshness but still there were over 80 members what, I believe, is a decent number for this kind of event.
Lajconik – four RPG sessions in two days
I already stated before how much I like Lajconik. It is a wonderful small convention where I can play RPG both with people I know and those who I haven’t met before. This year it was kind of special to me as I am chairing the SFF club that organizes it. Despite this I was a regular attendee and not staff member, even though I had participated in some staff meetings in order to offer my help (that wasn’t really needed).
One does not simply quit larping
I am not a larper. Or, to be more precise, I haven’t played for years. And between my last LARP and today almost everything about larping in Poland has changed. Yet, when the LARP community in Krakow decided to bid for the LARP Conference, I said I will help them. And help them I did.
