The issues of Polcon

Our natcon is not in the best shape right now. I don’t mean that the last one was bad or that last few were bad. Some of them were quite good, while others were not really as they should. Yet the problem manifests itself in a more complex way than having a mediocre Polcon once in a while. The problem is with the whole idea and we need to solve it. So what are the issues of Polcon?

Copernicon where the dice were rolling

This year, Copernicon was an experiment for me. Although I like RPGs I usually tend to avoid them during the “standard” conventions as I don’t want to miss other things that are happening at the con. I usually play Tabletop Role Playing Games at the dedicated conventions instead, like my favourite one – Lajconik. Yet this year I had to make an experiment. It is all Seji’s fault! He is the editor of the Spotkania Losowe (Random Encounters) fanzine.

Arkhamer, where I was asked a silly question

There are conventions which somehow appear as a “must visit” for me. This was the case for Arkhamer. It is a young event – the first one took place in 2015. Magnificon Expo 2018 – Manga fandoms strikes back

This year, Magnificon had a programme item I wanted to see so strongly, that I decided to visit the convention.

The story of the GUFF that happened

I am back from my GUFF trip and it was such a great adventure. I kept writing my trip report while I was in Australia and New Zealand and it is so far around 25 pages long. Keep your fingers crossed as I should be able to publish it later this year or prepare it for Ytterbium next April. Anyway, I think some of you may be interested in what happened and here I want to describe the trip a little bit, hoping you still would be waiting for the report.

Continuum 14: Conjugation – my first convention on the southern hemisphere

As some of you know I was a GUFF delegate this year and I got the opportunity to visit a convention in Australia. The convention was Continuum 14: Conjugation that was held in Melbourne between 8th and 11th June. It was my first convention on the southern hemisphere and I was really interested in how similar/different it will be compared to all other cons I have visited.
